Working on new designs for shirts can be tough when I’m not inspired to do so. I hate forcing design because it never becomes what I want it to become and always becomes a waste of time. A more recent design I have done called Faces of War came from being inspired by a photo I found that my dad had in an album from my grandpa. There where so many photos of him when he was drafted in the Korean War at the age of 18. One stuck out to me. Its not of him, but someone I can assume was a friend of his that was drafted at the same time as him.
After looking at it, it got me to thinking about war and what it means to fight and die for your country. I don’t know if I could do it. And I have the utmost respect for the men and women that chose to serve our country and keep geeks like me safe.
My thought process went a little morbid when thinking of war. Whether or not a war is for a good cause or for some leaders political gain, innocent people die. This design for me, represents the people who fight for us, and the people who died for us. And it needs to be a reminder to those of us who choose not to fight, or choose to be anti-war, anit-whatever, that people just like us are fighting and dying everyday so that we can have the freedom to sit around and bitch about the war they are fighting. Here is the design. I would love to hear whether you love or you hate it.
